DEVELOPMENTThe economic situation in Zimbabwe is very difficult at present with the inflation rate estimated at over two million per cent. However, Khayelihle Children’s Village must keep developing and meeting the challenges of caring for many children and the staff. Khayelihle Children’s Village’s first priority is building a ground reservoir. We now have serious problems with water. Most of the time ZESA, Zimbabwe’s electric company, switches off electricity and it becomes difficult to even pump water for the children.
Our second priority is the construction of a road that will go as far as the 2nd Australian House and the pre-school. During the rainy season, it is difficult to drive vehicles because the dirt road becomes too muddy.
The third priority is finishing off the Zimbabwean House. The major need is plumbing, glazing (glass for the windows), plastering and a ceiling. We would need to buy the equipment from Botswana. We also need a fence to put around our orchard, about 190 meters x 84 meters. |
